Super Mario Galaxy Film Preview Arrives, Unveiling Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Voice Cast

The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. It was showcased in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that highlighted the soon-to-release cartoon movie.

The sequel to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will transport Mario to the far corners of the cosmos. Along the way, he discovers a different royal figure and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.

A Cosmic Adventure Drawing from Iconic Releases

In the vein of the games from the Wii period that act as its source material, Mario will venture away from the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. During his grand adventure, he will meet again some recognizable characters, including the Luma, a breakout star from the previous film.

Yet it looks like Mario and his sibling Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who seemingly wields metal-based powers. Interestingly, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also includes nods to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Star-Studded Voice Cast Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers

The feature will see the return of the primary vocal talent, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.

A Big Year for Mario

The new Mario movie is set to release near the 40-year celebration of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 promises to be a significant year for Mario and his companions.

Nintendo confirmed a set of three fresh titles publicly declared for the upcoming year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Premiere Date Announced

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
